The opponent whose name is the first to appear in the film's title (Batman/Godzilla) beats the other (Superman/Kong) and nearly kills them, but doesn't go through with it. The antagonist (Lex Luthor/Walter Simmons) creates a third opposing character (Doomsday/Mechagodzilla) with the history of its creation involving another antagonist (Zod's corpse/King Ghidorah's skull and consciousness) whom one of the two titular characters has previously fought and ultimately killed who would go on to bring about a violent and destructive rampage onto civilization, motivating the two titular characters to work together and take down said opponent. The character whose name is the second to appear in said title is the one to defeat the opponent, via a weapon (Kryptonite spear/Kong's battle axe) with a history having something to do with the other titular character (Batman having made the spear/the axe not only being made from a dorsal fin from member of Godzilla's species, but also having been charged up by the atomic breath of Godzilla himself). These movies really _are_ similar, aren't they?

If I had a nickle for everytime a movie about two heros fighting each other, one with powers and the other whos an orphan with glowing weapon, where it ends with them both teaming up to take on a giant grey monster built by villain, using the remaanence of a dead alien advisory who still has there memories. Where the said glowing weapon is used to defeat the grey monster, I'd have two nickles, which isn't alot but it's wired that its happened twice.
